THE STORY OF MOONCHILD 

Moonchild Yoga Wear is a boutique one-woman owned athleisure brand, founded in lovely Denmark in 2015. Moonchild’s collections of yoga wear and loungewear are inspired by the colors and lights of the Scandinavian nature blended with beautiful and feminin minimalism. Moonchild has decided to produce all their yoga wear ethically and responsibly, making use of carefully-selected fabrics to create beautiful pieces for yoga, pilates or other types of movement, without compromising performance. 

ATHLEISURE WEAR, DESIGNED BY WOMEN - FOR WOMEN

The woman behind the Moonchild Yoga Wear brand is founder, owner and creative director Louise Wang Nielsen. She is a skilled creative designer and Louise’s eye for fashion, love for yoga and passion for the environment has created an international activewear brand. 

Louise launched Moonchild in 2015 from her home in Aarhus, Denmark where she lives with her husband and two little boys. Having fallen in love with yoga and practicing yoga on a daily basis, Louise had a dream to combine her fashion design education with this passion. Leaving her studies and taking the unbeaten track as a young entrepreneur, Louise set out to begin forming the dream of what would become Moonchild Yoga Wear.

ECO FRIENDLY YOGA WEAR

Moonchild creates active wear styles you can be proud to wear, not only because it looks great and feels amazing, but because it is responsibly manufactured with love to the people who made it too. 

To create the best yoga, pilates and athleisure wear Louise selects only super soft fabrics and include sustainable materials in many of her styles including: organic cotton and regenerated fibers like Q-NOVA and recycled polyester made from plastic waste. Organic cotton reduces energy and water usage and recycled material reduces the amount of plastic in our oceans.

It is all part of creating the true Moonchild feel.

They believe that nothing is perfect and that we can always get better, so they are constantly working to improve all parts of their business. They started out with shipping online orders in recycled mail-order bags. New hangtags made from recycled, plantable paper and much much more. 

Moonchild is committed to continue to increase their usage of sustainable and recycled fabrics.

ACTIVE WEAR DESIGNED IN DENMARK   

Their carefully selected manufacturer have obtained the STEP BY OEKO-TEX® Certification, sustainable textile production with the level 3, the maximum evaluation level with the advantage of improving sustainable production practices in every step of the process, continuous improvement of the environmental protection results and social responsibility as well as its efficiency.

All Moonchild Yoga Wear styles starts as hand drawings by Louise at her design studio in Denmark and each piece is tested by Louise and the Moonchild team of yoga and fitness students to ensure they make you feel comfortable, feminine and free to move. The fit, placement of seams, hand-picked fabrics and colors are designed to improve the usability of each style and take you from studio to street feeling like a true Moonchild. Their collection features minimalistic designs with a unique and feminine touch.

Moonchild products are designed for freedom of movement, flexibility and a super soft second-skin feel. 

ATHLEISURE WEAR FOR EVERY OCCASION

The versatility of our styles is something that we care highly about. Moonchild creates beautiful pieces with yoga, fitness and Pilates in mind - but they will be equally loved as comfortable style pieces, to wear as loungewear and as a soft complement to your everyday clothes.

Their aim is to create high quality products, in the best fabrics, while ensuring the workers in our factories have good working conditions.

MOONCHILD YOGA MATS

Moonchild has searched hard for partners true to their vision for ethically made products, and during 2017 they have been able to expand the Moonchild range of products to include Natural Rubber yoga mats manufactured in China. The carefully selected factory has accredited facilities and manufactures to high environmental standards.

The Moonchild Yoga Mats are made from a natural rubber base and a eco-polyurethane top surface. Both materials are fully biodegradable and sustainably produced materials.

YOGA WEAR THAT GIVES BACK TO THE WORLD

At Moonchild Yoga Wear we want to give back to those who need it the most. So that your purchase is one of compassion. Louise has therefore decided to work with selected charities and organizations who are doing amazing work around the world. Latest, Moonchild worked with Action Child Aid (Aktion Børnehjælp) to create Education for poor children in India. By donating part of the proceeds of Moonchild clothes and yoga gear, all of the lovely Moonchild customers helped raise amazing significant sums to support their work. 

Since 2018, Moonchild has been working closely with Women for Women International, helping women survivors of war rebuild their lives. Since 1993, they have helped more than 462,000 marginalised women to overcome the horrors of war and work towards a better future for themselves and their families. Each year Moonchild empowers an increasing number of women through our year-long training programme so they can learn how to earn and save money, learn about women rights, improve their family’s health and make their voices heard at home and in their community, transforming their lives and creating change for the future.

As Moonchild yoga wear grows, they promise to continue to focus on their environmental and social responsibility and we are excited to share this journey with all of you.
