Everyone has their own favorite smoothie. Still, it is also so nice (and healthy) to alternate between recipes. This smoothie is hydrating well and gets some extra 'body' by the nut butter.
Coconut water contains many electrolyte minerals such as magnesium. Therefore make sure that the coconut water is not made from concentrated coconut water, because otherwise there are few minerals left by the production process.
Blueberries are rich in antioxidants. And the pineapple is not only good for a tropical feeling; it also contains the enzyme bromelain, what is good for the digestive process. And of course lots of vitamins and minerals like most fruits. The banana creates a creamy structure and adds some sweetness.
For a fresh touch, you can add some mint leaves. With regard to the amount of mint: a little mint goes a long way. Because mint has a cooling effect, usually I only add it on warm days.
Do you have an active lifestyle and would you like to add extra superfoods to support this? Then you can for example add some spirulina. Spirulina contains many essential amino acids (which are converted into protein by your body), B vitamins (thiamine and riboflavin) and minerals such as iron, magnesium and manganese. However, Spirulina has a strong taste, which does not agree with the taste buds of everybody.
