This delicious smoothie bowl with red fruit fits well in a sattvic diet. To feel physically energetic and mentally calm at the same time. So that your diet contributes to your yoga practice.
I usually have breakfast after my yoga practice. Since I spend most of the morning on my yoga practice, in practice my breakfast usually comes as brunch. Often I then make a delicious smoothie bowl.
Fruits gives me lots of energy and are easy to digest (when not combined with other kinds of foods). And because of the avocado, chia seeds and coconut milk, I won’t be hungry for many hours after eating one of my favorite smoothie bowls. Self-care that feels good for body and mind!
A little bit of yoga philosophy…
(and what this has to do with your favo smoothie bowl)
Have you ever heard about the gunas: sattva, rajas and tamas? These are three categories in the yoga philosophy with which we divide nature (including matter, thoughts and emotions).
Under the influence of rajas, your mind can become restless, impure or unconcentrated. In the case of food, an example of a rajas experience is if you have drunk too much coffee. On the other hand, when tamas influences are dominant, you can feel sluggish or sleepy. Finally, the guna sattva, with characteristics such as purity, purity, knowledge and harmony.
Increasing the influence of sattva can be done by reducing the influence of rajas and tamas. This can be done through your behavior and habits. Including your diet. For example, fresh fruits, vegetables and legumes are seen as sattvic food. Especially when it is fresh, pure and has grown above the ground under the direct influence of sunlight. A freshly made smoothie bowl fits perfectly in the category of sattvic food.
However, please listen to the signals your body is giving you, including the different needs affected by the change of seasons. On a cold rainy day, your body may for example rather prefer a warming breakfast, such as warm oatmeal. Click HEREto read more about interpreting the signals of your body with regard to nutrition.
